A friend of mine was doing the Appalachian Trail earlier this year. How'd you find it?

You're a linguist and a dictionary editor. That's intimidating for me just to write anything. :)

I enjoy the 1940s ~ 1950s comedies as well, in particular musical comedies. One artist I like is Frank Astaire. My students often say I get stuck and live in the past-- I keep jabbering about actors / movies they have never heard of and some of my daily wardrobe are authentic items from WWII (i.e. watch, ring, pedant). (Some say I look like someone coming straight out of a movie or a comic book lol) I was required to take Linguistics for one whole academic year but frankly speaking, I didn't score well on that subject in comparison to my literature courses. What training do you need to work as a dictionary editor?

Which are some of the old movies from the 1940s ~ 1950s that make it to your favorite list? A bit fan of classic noir, I have been so much into the genre that I found my past 3 screenplays more or less influenced by some of the noir films I have seen. One of my favorites is Humphrey Bogart's The Big Sleep. I have seen it a couple of times and read the screenplays at least twice.
