You don't like British humor? Have you ever seen Fawlty Towers? :)
The books are a trilogy in five parts ;) I'm not too sure they are that tasty though, a bit dry I would guess, but it's full of British humor so what can you expect? ;D
Book is of course better than the movie ;) I read the book when I was 12 though, gosh, that's 12 years ago... I need to read it again to see if it's really as good as I remember it.
