In Japan,there has AFS too :)
I found AFS from a website! it's just an ad but I've been interested in it so much! actually,I also took AFS's exam last year but I got Italy so I disclaimed coz I wanna go to Japan more, plus I study Japanese at my school. What did I have to study for?? the exam was just English test! lol and interview test>_< so it's not so much difficult but many students around my country took this exam too! this year was about 12,500 people who took but about 2,000 were able to become exchange students and study aboard in several countries!
My school is not related to AFS but my parents,they just paid some amount of money for sending me study in Japan(11,000$). I see :o Your school find host family for you,right? but for me, AFS will find for me and they have advisors in Japan so if I have any problems,I can ask them for help.

Ahhh for your question.. it's pretty difficult for me to answer why I like Japan(^_^;) I just feel like I like lol and I'm happy when I study Japanese though I'm not good at it. I've been to Japan once in 2012 :D so beautiful country^^ you're very lucky to be Japanese!

Hmm.. do you know AFS? I passed the exam by AFS foundation! Did you go by yourself or what?? btw,I've never meet anyone who is exchange student in this site except you :D really happy to talk with you and I like Japan so much^^
