About the places, I just can tell you that maybe for those cities not as big as Beijing or Shanghai will be have lower living standard. Sorry that, I don't know whether it is easy or not for a foreigner to study in china and working still at the same time.But there are chances. And for the chances, I think the bigger cities will be more. And it depends on a lot of factors. If you want I think you can find some.

It is about 6.8yuan make up one dollar. In China, big cities' living standard is higher. Maybe it need about 1,000 yuan for your liviing every month.ALso it depends how you spend it.

I search the internet and it says that it is from 7,000 to 1,6000 yuan or so per year. Also it is depends on different universities. For those better might be higher.

I don't know specifically what the costs are but I do know that the cost of living in huge cities in China such as Shanghai or Beijing is rising as more businesses are prospering in those cities of China.
For India I have no idea about the costs and standards of living, I can only say that it is has mainly poor places with a few extremely rich places, making it have a huge gap between the poor and the wealth
