Hi, nice to meet you. I like Lilly Allen too but my favorite singer is Leona Lewis, she's also from the UK. You are so lucky to go see Lily Allen in concert!! gr!! ha ha I love that song "smile" by her, even though it's a bit old.

No, I've never seen that movie, but I think I've heard its title before.
I once tried to play a song by the Beatles on guitar... it was "Here Comes The Sun". It's my favourite of their songs and I tried to learn the intro. It actually sounded alright... but I guess I could improve it a bit or learn the whole song.
Well, I don't really care if artists do covers as long as they sound alright or even better than the original. But some songs just shouldn't be covered, because nothing could ever be better than the original song.
There's one song that I like better as cover. That is "Wicked Game" originally by Chris Isaak and covered by Stone Sour. I totally love it :D

we were attending the worlds universities debating championship tournament. that's what i do, i teach and coach debating in the california state university system, and teach public speaking too along with some other communication classes.

my job is good fun and i love the travelling. i also think that i do a lot of good for students, helping them to be more confident and think more critically. i feel like the next stage in my career will be moving to china to teach there for a bit. i'm very enamoured of that particular country, for many reasons.

best wishes on your continuing academic successes!!

actually i feel much better now
just returning to my familiar home air has made a huge difference.

all in all it was a satisfying trip.
my students did as well as we had hoped in the competition,
that is -- they did not win any awards, but they met their goals
as far as their speaking results at the tournament.

now we'll have two tournaments on the east coast coming up,
one at cornell university and the other at university of vermont. that takes up our time from now until the middle of april.

how was your holiday break, friend?
